Lebrusan Studio carries the torch of the Fairtrade gold movement in Britain. Its founder, Spanish-born artist and designer Arabel Lebrusan, studied gemmology and fine art in Madrid and Utrecht before a Master’s at Central Saint Martins focused on ethics in jewellery — a subject that gripped her after witnessing the industry’s “good, bad and ugly” as a designer in the Far East. After five years as Creative Director of Leblas, the first ethical jeweller on Sloane Street, she was specially selected as one of the world’s first ever Fairtrade Gold licensees at the initiative’s 2011–12 launch, and founded her own studio to keep changing the industry from the inside out.
Dubbed “the queen of ethical jewellery”, Arabel has been named the NAJ’s Jewellery Designer of the Year twice (2017 and 2022), won CSR Initiative of the Year, delivered a TEDx talk on ethical jewellery, co-founded the Fair Luxury campaign group, and counts Queen Letizia of Spain among wearers of her signature Spanish filigree jewels.
The studio specialises in made-to-order engagement rings, wedding bands and bespoke commissions, crafted by master goldsmiths in Hatton Garden using certified Fairtrade and Fairmined Ecological Gold from small-scale mining co-operatives (mined without mercury or cyanide), recycled precious metals, reclaimed old-cut diamonds and traceable gemstones — every piece hallmarked and accompanied by a certificate of provenance. The mission, in Arabel’s words: changing the world one gram of gold at a time.

Athena Ethical Diamond Gold Solitaire Engagement Ring
The signature Lebrusan Studio engagement ring and a flagship of ethical bridal jewellery. A classic solitaire elevated by subtle ethically-minded details, it’s made to order in Hatton Garden using certified artisanal or recycled gold with a fully traceable diamond, and arrives hallmarked with the “Created in the UK” mark plus a certificate of authenticity and provenance documenting exactly where its materials came from. Every ring is made in any size required, and the design can be personalised with coloured gemstones or hand engraving — proof that an ethical ring concedes nothing to convention on beauty.

Ethical Wedding Rings Collection
The heart of the studio’s Fairtrade mission: made-to-order wedding bands in certified Fairmined Ecological Gold, Fairtrade artisanal gold or recycled precious metals, each crafted and hallmarked in Hatton Garden. Choose your profile, width and finish, then add hand engraving — historical scrollwork, botanical motifs or a private inscription — cut by specialist British engravers. Because each band directs a premium back to certified small-scale mining communities, this is jewellery where the wedding symbolism runs all the way down the supply chain. Court shapes, shaped bands, eternity rings and men’s designs all available.
